Make America Great Again - Pt. 1

"Make America Great Again." That was the phrase during the 2020 presidential election, a war cry, if you will. Lower the taxes! Build a wall! More jobs! No illegal immigrants! So forth and so on.

Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. - 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NKJV)

First, let me do a little housekeeping. This series of posts isn't about bashing our country or its leaders. I won't mention any names. The Lord commands us to pray for our leaders so we can live in peace. This post is about pointing out what "One nation under God" looks like and how it would benefit us greatly if we indeed placed ourselves under God's sovereign authority. 

Now, I know I will probably get comments from scholars and self-proclaimed scholars. I understand I will get comments bashing me because I'm affiliated with one political party or another. There's a chance someone will call me a bigot, hate monger, and so forth. I'm not a Democrat (although many assume I am because of my skin color), I'm not a Republican, I'm not a scholar, bigot, or all the names one's imagination can come up with. I'm just a man who has a relationship with God through His Son Jesus, and I know where we will wind up if we don't change our way of reacting to issues when they arise.

I hope these posts will be the mirror we need to see ourselves for who we've become and what we are as a nation that has adopted the cliche "Make America Great Again" and "One Nation Under God."
