I've been watching popular social media sites since the election of the president of the United States. I must say he has become an idol to many. And debating whether he's right or wrong has become an idol to many. We must keep or focus on God if we plan to spend an eternity of blessings and peace.

Regular Prayer

Set aside time each day to communicate with God. Prayer helps to strengthen your relationship and keeps your mind centered on His presence.

Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” - Luke 21:36 (NKJV)

Study Your Bible

Study your Bible every day. If we read scripture, we can receive guidance, comfort, and insight into God's character and His will for our lives.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

Attend Worship Services

Go to worship at a church, and set up personal devotion for yourselves and your friends. Worship helps to come in line with God's purpose for your life.

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV)

Meditate and Reflect

We all need a better understanding of God. We all need our relationships to be better with Him. Meditating on His word and reflecting on the times we know His word helped us, well, actually come to life in our situations.

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works. - Psalms 145:5 (NKJV)

Community Fellowship

Surround yourself with fellow believers. Engaging in a community can provide support and encouragement in your faith journey.

Serve Others

We can't be spectators. Spectators are those who go to church service but the other six days are dormant, not letting their light shine. There's one really sad thing: some say they are a Christian but won't help someone in need.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. - Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)

7. Avoid Distractions

Technology and social media are the biggest distractions we face every day. Everywhere we look, there will be distractions. We must learn to set boundaries and give God the time He desires to spend with us.

Let's be intentional with focusing more on God than we do on anything or anyone else. This way, we can please the one who sent His Son to die for our sins. Jesus is coming back, and distractions keep us from preparing for His second coming.

I pray we will all be intentional about keeping our focus on You. I pray we won't get caught up in all of the disrespectful debating of politics, video games, our jobs, and anything else that pulls our attention away from You. We need you, Lord. You are our only salvation. In Jesus' name. Amen.
